Favoured by his status of student, for over 6 years he had the chance to visit for educational purposes the major European and American coated abrasives manufacturers and raw material suppliers. Meanwhile he became the technical manager of his company and succeeded through suitable modifications at the plant to produce more technical items for the furniture and the car body industry.

In 1961 the company changed its name into BMA (Brusati Manifattura Abrasivi) settled in Milan and started a project for the building of a new factory nowadays existing. He was then appointed manager to run and develop the technological aspects required to make the factory operative. Further to the project conclusion he focused his attentions and efforts to the realization of several industrial products very innovative for that time, some of them are still today part of BMA range of products. In 1963, having consolidated the position of the company in Milan, Mr. Lesizza started on behalf of BMA a new activity in the field of plants engineering that, later on, became his predominant activity. In fact he installed in Lima (Peru) the first factory producing coated abrasives in that country, a company ABRASIVOS S.A. that still operates successfully in the South American market. Among the results of Mr. Lesizza engagement to better the abrasives applications we traced a patent for coupling velour fabric to the abrasive backing, dated August 1967. Some 20 years before the international success of that system under the “Velcro” name! Also in the same years we found trace of the very first trials with no-load top sizing treatments.

At the end of his collaboration with BMA, of which meantime he had acquired a remarkable block of shares, and started IM&T in 1971. The mission of the new company was the engineering of new plants and the supply of know-how and technical assistance. This gave birth to three new abrasive companies suppliers of jumbo rolls for the woodworking and the A.R.T

In 1980 the AES (Abrasives Engineering Society) in America, thanks to credentials proposed by prominent companies of the abrasives world, awarded Mr. Lesizza with the title of “Certified Abrasive Engineer”. Later in 1984 he and his partners decided to dedicate all their energies and resources to the mere engineering activity, transferring all the industrial activities and founding the IM&T s.r.l in Milan where they are today.

The actual IM&T is totally owned and managed by Mr. Lesizza . In the early 2009 his historical team of engineers has been added with new technical and marketing staff to keep serving better and in a modern way both manufacturers and converters. Among the novelties: IM&T will launch later in spring 2009 a new revolutionary concept of abrasive maker plant, very interesting for owners of standard classic makers as well as for medium/big size converters intending to produce their own products or part of them.

During the 50 and more years of its activity in the abrasive’s field IM&T srl. collected about 1200 copies of patents issued between 1928 and 2009 all related to abrasives’ technology and know how.
This collection is regularly updated thanks to our good relationship with all the major producers and suppliers of granular and coated abrasives.
